This private couple lived outside of the country when they discovered Kitsap County through the technology of a home computer. Once they found Kitsap and their land, they assembled the team to make their dream of a waterfront home unfold.
The heart of their home would center around music and home entertainment to bring friends and family together for fun and memory-making. They wanted entertainment of all kinds: a billiard table, golf-simulation games, music and movies both indoors and out. To make that particular part of the dream come true, they hired Jim Lee and his crew at Nuts About HiFi.
The husband, an inventor, loves technology. In other words, Lee and he speak the same language. But Lee points out that music and movies are not only engineered, they are emotional experiences. So he sat the couple in front of screens with different sound systems until they lit up and said, “That’s it!”
With 33 years in the audio business, Lee has auditioned many products to find those that deliver the highest performance experience. The technological skills he and his team bring to projects have grown over the years with the industry. But recent breakthroughs in audio-visual technology bring a whole new dynamic to home entertainment — and that’s what this couple wanted.
Lee’s design included prewiring, equipment, screens and speakers, along with their ideal locations. Lee relies on Connie Hobart’s management of the office and on Aubrey Lee to get the equipment in on time. His crack installation team of Matt Krawoski and Adam Huson focuses on honest, quality workmanship and they all coordinate with the contractor, electrician and cabinetmaker who are building the home.
From start to finish, this project took two years. Lee, Krawoski and Huson spent around 20 hours talking, demonstrating and designing with their clients. The project fills three closets with equipment racks to manage the seven-zone, surround-sound system and screens. No room in the home was left out of the plan, including the garage. The zones can operate as a whole-house system or as individual rooms.
Screens and ceiling and wall speakers, as well as small barrel speakers outside are the only evidence of this awesome system. However, Lee knows that what his clients will remember is how convenient, simple and easy it works in everyday life — and that comes down to something as familiar as remote controls and tablets.
The husband dreamed of having any music he wanted at his fingertips, quick and easy. Wait, aren’t there apps for that? Yes, but they lose sound quality in how they manage digital information. For this system, the choice was Roon, a company that offers the entire world of music without compromising the listening experience. The huge digital library is managed through the husband’s tablet and he says it is awesome — another dream fulfilled.
Once the system is installed, the equipment is balanced to the acoustics of each room. The Nuts About HiFi team live for the moment when they finally crank up the sound system for their clients. These two broke into wonderous smiles and danced to the music.
The husband demonstrates room-by-room the possibilities for fun with pride and delight. It’s innovative and easy, and the quality of the music and movies gives them goose-bumps. It’s exactly what they dreamed of.
