Collective Visions’ 13th Annual CVG Show takes place in January and February. The CVG Show is a significant artistic event that benefits the entire Puget Sound area. Visitors come from all over the state for the show, which is now one of the most prestigious juried art shows in the state.
Collective Visions Gallery, the show’s organizer, is an association of West Sound professional artists working together to encourage a community passion for the visual arts and to make quality art available for purchase. The gallery offers exhibits, lectures, concerts and other art-related events to communicate ideas, build community and enrich and educate the audience.
Approximately 1,100 artworks were submitted for consideration for the 2019 show by 356 artists from 96 cities and towns throughout the state. From these submissions, the juror chose 131 pieces of art to display in the show. Local artists did well — many of the prizes were awarded to Kitsap County residents.
The 2020 CVG Show will begin at 11 a.m. on Jan. 18 at the Collective Visions Gallery in Bremerton, followed by a reception and awards ceremony at the Kitsap Conference Center that evening. The show continues through Saturday, Feb. 29.
The jurors are Liana Bennett for two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, and Beverly Hanson for photo-digital art — both award-winning artists who had been featured at CVG. They will award a $1,000 first, $500 second and $250 third prize in each category that they jury. They will then combine their forces to choose the $1,500 Mayor’s Award for the Best in Show, which will be presented by the mayor of Bremerton.
Other major awards are the Best of Kitsap Award presented by the Cultural Arts Foundation Northwest, a $300 People’s Choice Award presented by the West Sound Arts Council and several Purchase Awards provided by local businesses. There will also be several honorable mentions. All cash awards come from funds provided by the show’s sponsors.
