Gig Harbor’s Russell Family Foundation has announced the latest cohort of this year’s Jane’s Fellowship Program.
Since 2004, the Jane’s Fellowship Program has provided a year-long curriculum that seeks to uplift community-rooted leaders across Pierce County working on a wide range of local priorities and solutions, according to a release.
The Russell Family Foundation, whose mission is investing in people and places to provide a positive impact on the communities they serve, utilizes its Catalytic Climate Finance, Environmental Education, Food for Climate Solutions, and the Jane Fellowship programs to advance its goals.
The 12-month Jane’s Fellowship program, which is named after the family’s matriarch, brings 15 fellows together to focus on hands-on learning, relationship-building, and leadership growth. Through workshops, peer exchange, and community-based experiences, fellows will deepen their networks, strengthen their ability to confront challenges, and broaden their understanding of the issues shaping life across Pierce County.
New fellows will specifically look at challenges such as expanding housing access, advancing birth equity, closing the college achievement gap, defending immigrant rights, supporting trauma recovery, and advancing whole-person health, the release stated.

“We’re proud to welcome Jane’s Fellowship Class 13, a remarkable group of leaders who reflect the depth of talent, lived experience, and grassroots strength across Pierce County,” Terrance McGehee, fellowship program lead, said. “This program is a chance to stand alongside them, support their work, and help strengthen the networks that make community change possible.”
