“Pirates” are coming to Bremerton’s Quincy Square on Feb. 28 as part of the new Bremerton Pirate Festival.
The festival’s organizer, Esther Chilcutt, a Kenmore resident with experience organizing events and conventions, created the event with the simple idea of bringing families and neighbors together. From there, the idea evolved into an event filled with creativity and pirate shenanigans for people of all ages to enjoy, according to a recent Kitsap Sun article.
The event will host multiple food vendors, with Bremerton’s regular Friday food truck day taking place in tandem with the pirate event. Adults and children are encouraged to dress up, with a kids’ costume contest taking place on the main stage. There also will be musical performances, guest entertainers, and interactive shows.
Children can partake in craft activities, a scavenger hunt, coloring contests, and other hands-on experiences.
With the support of the nonprofit Roxy Theatre, there will additionally be a screening of “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” The showing will feature an appearance from actor Isaac C. Singleton Jr., who played Bo’sun in the movie.
The Bremerton Pirate Festival is still looking for local performers and musicians to showcase community talent and bring more energy to the event, the Kitsap Sun article noted.
