From kitchens to bathrooms to entire homes, the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) recently celebrated its 2022 Excellence in Remodeling Awards at Skamania Lodge. Seabeck’s Candid Construction, LLC won the award for Bath $60,001 – $80,000 – Plain Jane Bathroom Transformed to a Modern Retreat.
About this project
The homeowners had a plain Jane bathroom in desperate need of remodeling. The outdated aesthetics didn’t match the house, and it lacked functionality and storage. After removing all evidence of its former self, Candid Construction repaired the roof and soffit before beginning the extensive makeover.
They added custom cabinets around the double sink and a custom cabinet with crown molding and hooks to conceal robes and towels while providing ample storage space. Keeping the look of the bathroom clean and streamlined, the client chose the marble-looking tile and black pearl granite seen throughout.
They reclaimed a window from the original bathroom and added it above the new remote-controlled bidet toilet to provide more natural light and make the space feel more open and inviting.
A full-size shower with a frosted glass panel replaced the tub, adding to the openness of the room. The shower features a multivalve system with a rain head, three individual body sprays, a removable wand and an on-demand hot water heater. It also includes another window for additional light and a custom-built shelf for storage.
About the Excellence in Remodeling Awards
A highlight of the association’s summer board meeting, the awards recognized the top remodelers across 25 different categories. Winners faced fierce competition with 57 entries vying for the top 25 awards. Members from six local home-building associations battled it out for top honors.
Industry experts reviewed and scored each project based on aesthetics, special or unique design solutions, quality craftsmanship, appropriate building materials, budgetary considerations and the challenges the project’s design requirements faced.
