West Sound Quilters’ annual show features around 300 quilts made by members, plus wearable art, vendors, demonstrations, quilt turning, a raffle quilt, a treasure chest, auction blocks, community quilts, a café and more. The show has the theme “Tradition with a Twist” this year and runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6 and 7, at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds, Presidents’ Hall.
Simone Montfort, this year’s featured artist, is a local artist whose quilts, wall hangings and wearable art have a distinctly whimsical and vibrantly imaginative flair. She is a prolific quilter, and has an incredible collection of hand-constructed quilted jackets (a.k.a. wearable art). Montfort has personally constructed more than 50 jackets and eight will be on display.
West Sound Quilters is a nonprofit quilt guild with 200 members from Poulsbo to Allyn. Monthly guild meetings are at the Givens Community Center in Port Orchard.
The fairgrounds’ address is 1200 NW Fairgrounds Road, Bremerton. Show admission is $5.
