The 2026 5K Fun Run for MS, organized by A2 Physical Therapy, is set for March 28 at Tacoma’s Titlow Trails. All ages are welcome to walk or run the 5K or a shorter 1 K at the fifth annual event. Proceeds benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. MS is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves.
“It all began with Ben, one of our therapists, who wanted to organize a 5K to get people together and moving in a positive way. The goal was community, connection, and movement. From there, we thought — why not do it for a cause?” said Jenilee Antone. “At our clinic, we were treating a growing number of individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). One patient in particular ran out of insurance benefits and had to wait until the following year to return to therapy, risking regression. That experience became the catalyst for creating our MS program.”
The program allows A2 Physical Therapy to treat folks with MS for free if they don’t have insurance, or their insurance benefits don’t cover their services. A2 has NEUBIE technology. NEUBIE is an FDA-cleared direct current electrical stimulation device that has beneficial for many patients with MS, Antone said.
“After the first couple of years, we were able to purchase a third NEUBIE dedicated specifically to our MS patients whenever they’re in the clinic,” she said. “Last year, we decided to give back directly to the MS Society, and we’re continuing that again this year. We’ve raised a little more each year, ranging from about $2,000 in the earlier years to $5,000 last year.”
The organizers hope at least 350 people will turn out. Registration is $22 and includes soft black tees that read Tacoma across the chest. Register here.
