In honor of Valentine’s Day, Big Heart Pet Brands — the makers of Milk-Bone, Pup-Peroni, Canine Carry Outs and Milo’s Kitchen brand dog treats — surveyed 3,000 dog “parents” from around the country. Their mission: to see how regularly humans engage with loving behaviors like doggy kisses and cuddling with their dogs.
It turns out, humans are quite romantic — when it comes to puppies, that is. And Washington state takes the torch as No. 3, beat only by California and New York.
Here are some interesting findings:
- 73 percent of respondents buy their dog a present at least once a month. Most frequently, that involves a pet treat
- 39 percent of unmarried women said they prefer their dog to a date on Valentine’s Day (ouch!)
- 18 percent of single men said a dog helps them attract more dates
- The majority of both men and women said people who love dogs are more attractive.
We’re so sweet on our pets, it’s no wonder the Puppy Love Budweiser commercials return every year for Superbowl!
Dog parents can buy dog car seats, doggie tuxedoes, strollers, even sunglasses, let alone all sorts of gourmet food. What would you do for your furry friend?
