Overview: The 2025 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Rebel has lost its legendary Hemi V8 which was always a perfect match for a brawny full-size pickup like the Ram Rebel but its replacement twin-turbo inline six-cylinder is a genuine powerhouse. The Ram 1500 is available is a wide array of models and special editions from the base Tradesman to the all-out Tungsten which costs more than two entry level Tradesman pickups. Our tester was pushing the upper limits at $16,000 over its base price.
Walkaround: Ram trucks don’t take the subtle approach to graphics. Much of the bed sides were billboards declaring that this was a Rebel. Our Hydro Blue tester was a beautiful blue reminiscent of the many great Dodge muscle car colors. The bed had an excellent hold down system and a power up/down tailgate.
Interior: Ram trucks have really raised the bar on interiors. The cabins are first class in terms of space, comfort, functionality, features, and quality. Many Ram owners use their trucks as rolling offices and that functionality is very well executed. Interior storage is far above average. Interior space and comfort are limousine caliber. Foldup rear seats and a flat floor provide great inside storage/carrying capacity. Our truck had a great panoramic sunroof.
Behind the Wheel: Inline six-cylinder engines have always had a “torque monster” reputation and the 3.0-liter “Hurricane” in the Ram does a wonderful job of validation. Acceleration was great and the engine was quiet and refined, more like a luxury car than a workhorse pickup. The eight-speed automatic transmission was smooth and worked very well with the engine for seamless hill ascents. Towing capacity is very good although slightly less than some competitors.
Bottom line: The 2025 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Rebel is a very impressive full-size half-ton pickup. It has built on the Dodge/Ram heritage of tough work trucks and expanded that reputation to include roomy, comfortable, first class cabins worthy of modern luxury SUVs.
