Overview: The 2023 Infiniti QX60 is a midsize luxury SUV that combines style, performance and technology, with Infiniti making seriously aggressive moves to address some of the previous model’s shortcomings. The result is a pretty compelling and competitive package in an extremely crowded market segment. One of the perks of this job is being able to secure courtesy vehicle loans when traveling out of town. And we thank our good friends at the Atlanta office of Prestige Auto Specialists who provided us with the 2023 QX60 for our annual, extended family Southern vacation.
Walkaround: The design of the 2023 QX60 features a bold front grille showcasing Infiniti’s large signature badge, sleek LED headlights and a gently sloping roofline, giving it an assertive and sophisticated presence. The well-executed design strikes a precise balance between athleticism and elegance, offering refined curves and clean lines, with 20-inch alloy wheels enhancing the overall look.
Interior: The cabin features richly appointed premium leather, wood trim and soft-touch materials exuding luxury and refinement. The spacious, three-row interior accommodates passengers comfortably, making it an ideal family vehicle. Our test driver featured heated second-row captain’s chairs, with a removable console that delivered excellent comfort, according to our rear passenger. The cargo area behind the second row is spacious enough to accommodate luggage for three adults on a two-week vacation. The QX60 boasts a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that includes intuitive and responsive controls, as well as a 10.8-inch head-up display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as are a wireless charging pad and multiple USB ports. Infiniti’s attention to detail and thoughtful design are evident with ambient lighting and ergonomically designed controls. When coupled with the optional Bose 17-speaker audio system, it creates a technologically advanced and highly enjoyable driving and travel experience. The QX60 is equipped with a plethora of safety features, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.
Behind the wheel: The QX60 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic. The V6 delivers a respectable 295 ponies to the pavement, providing ample power when needed. The powertrain offers smooth acceleration and decent fuel economy, plus a 6,000-pound towing capacity. We road-tripped the QX60 across three different interstates and numerous two-lane country blacktops. The ride was comfortable and reasonably quiet because the suspension does an awesome job of absorbing road imperfections. While handling is surefooted, it lacks the sportiness of some rivals. But then it doesn’t masquerade as a sports sedan, either. Additionally, the ProPILOT Assist system in our test-driver provided semi-autonomous driving capabilities — handy for long-distance freeway travel.
Bottom line: The 2023 Infiniti QX60 is a serious improvement over its predecessor, showcasing a fresh design and a luxurious and comfortable interior, with lots of advanced technologies and safety features. It competes well against segment rivals, making it a captivating choice for buyers seeking a stylish, well-equipped, midsize luxury SUV.
