Overview: The 2024 Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro Hybrid is big, bold, and hard to miss. It’s also hard to park but the Sequoia isn’t a typical city commuter. It’s much more of an open highway family adventure vehicle and the TRD features do provide greater off-road capabilities. A standard surround-view camera system helps tight parking situations.
Walkaround: The Toyota Sequoia is big. It’s long, wide, and tall. You don’t sit in a Sequoia; you climb up into one. The TRD features add an element of ruggedness and Toyota TRD packages are more than gingerbread although how much tight trail action a Sequoia will see is debatable.
Interior: The interior is essentially a three-row living room although the third row is best for kids. The split third row seats are elevated above the cargo deck when folded so that affects cargo handling.
Behind the Wheel: The Sequoia can tow up to 9520 pounds. The electric motor assisted twin-turbo V6 means ample power for highway merging or towing. The brakes are good. Its large size can make lane management a challenge but its well-tuned suspension provides a smooth comfortable ride. The TRD Pro features add skid plates, special shocks, a locking rear differential, and 33-inch all-terrain tires.
Bottom line: The 2024 Toyota Sequoia is a big rig with big capabilities. Its 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine is a powerhouse with a combined 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque all of which make the Sequoia an excellent towing vehicle. Its spacious three-row interior provides ample room for people and cargo.
