Overview: The 2025 Lexus RZ 300e is a boldly styled all-electric model. It’s built on what Lexus calls the e-TNGA platform that’s shared with the Toyota bZ4X and the Subaru Solterra. There are two versions of the Lexus RZ — the single-motor, front-wheel-drive 300e and the dual motor, all-wheel-drive RZ 450e. Our test RZ 300e was loaded with style and interior comfort and luxury befitting a Lexus. On the negative side, the RZ 300e lags behind most competitors in range and charging times.

Walkaround: The 2025 Lexus RZ 300e is a striking vehicle with crisp lines. Our tester was Copper Crest, with a black roof and hood that gave the appearance of a chopped top. Lexus calls the two-tone paint scheme Bi-Tone and wants an extra $1,295 for it. Our RZ 350e had 20-inch alloy wheels. The “dynamic sky” panorama glass roof was a $550 bargain compared to the paint surcharge and it greatly lightened the whole interior.

2025 Lexus RZ300eInterior: “Upscale” aptly describes the Lexus RZ 300e. Comfort and a stylish execution of quality materials are standard Lexus features. The heated and ventilated Ultrasuede power front seats were great for both long and short trips. Suede on the door panels and center console was a nice touch — and nice to touch. The power tilt/telescopic leather-trimmed steering wheel was heated. A flat floor and ample legroom along with heated seats made the rear seat very comfortable. Cargo space was very good with a flat deck.

Behind the wheel: Acceleration was strong and smooth thanks to instant torque. The RZ 300e had a dial for a shifter and most other controls were accessed via the infotainment screen. The highway ride was smooth and compliant. Braking was strong with the regenerative feature. Handling was responsive although short of sporty, but still excellent for this class vehicle. EPA range was estimated at 224 miles, which is short of most competitors. The onboard charger is rated at 6.6 kW, which is also less than most competitors. The 20-inch wheels lessened the range compared to standard 18-inch wheels — the price of vanity.

Bottom line: The 2025 Lexus RZ 300e is essentially unchanged from the 2024 model. As a midsize luxury electric vehicle, it shines brightest in the luxury and comfort departments while coming up short in electric range and charging metrics. Long range isn’t a priority for the 2025 Lexus RZ 300e but it’s a handsome, luxurious battery-electric vehicle that does well with overnight home charger access.
