The Suquamish Tribe is hosting a cultural ceremony and groundbreaking event March 11 to mark the start of construction on a new Clearwater Market in Silverdale.

The future 8,330-square-foot facility will include a convenience store, gas station, and an Agate Dreams cannabis retail store. Once complete, it will become the tribe’s third Clearwater Market, following successful openings in Bremerton and Poulsbo in 2024.

The event, scheduled for 11 a.m.-noon, will feature a traditional performance by the Suquamish Singers and Dancers, a cultural blessing, remarks from tribal leaders and representatives from Port Madison Enterprises, and a ceremonial shovel groundbreaking.

“We are so excited to continue providing services and economic opportunities to Silverdale and everyone throughout Kitsap County,” Leonard Forsman, chairman of the Suquamish Tribe, said in a release. “This entire region is Suquamish ancestral territory, so we are committed to ensuring it thrives now and into the future.”

Speakers at the event include Forsman, Irene Carper, Suquamish Tribal Council secretary and chief operating officer for Port Madison Enterprises; Greg George, president of the Port Madison Enterprises board of directors; and Rion Ramirez, CEO of Port Madison Enterprises.
