Just as the Mosquito Fleet once played a crucial role in connecting Kitsap and its diverse communities, Love Kitsap, the new brand for a project that’s been years in the making, is transforming tourism promotion in Kitsap County. Launched by innovator Visit Bainbridge Island with the collaboration of Chamber of Commerce stakeholders from Poulsbo, Kingston, South Kitsap and Bainbridge Island, Love Kitsap is redefining how we showcase our region’s charm and appeal for visitors.

“Love Kitsap represents a fresh, unified effort to bring out the best in our communities and share them with the world. We’re committed to fostering a deep connection between visitors and the authentic experiences that make Kitsap so special,” says Christina Pivarnik, executive director of Visit Bainbridge Island.

The Mosquito Fleet, much like today’s tourism initiatives, was pivotal in the region’s development. These vessels, which were deeply tied to their communities, knitted together stories of social and economic history. As with the Mosquito Fleet, tourism remains vital for our communities year-round. The local waterways, once aquatic highways, supported coastal communities by carrying passengers, supplying stores, moving livestock, delivering mail and making impromptu stops wherever signaled. Over time, standard itineraries emerged, driving economic development by supporting growing communities.

Love Kitsap is now inspiring locals and visitors to discover and engage with Kitsap’s events, parks, coves, beaches and trails, creating immersive experiences where visitors thrive by exploring to the fullest. Love Kitsap is also working to help create off-the-beaten-path experiences, enabling visitors and locals alike to fill their days with wonder, joy and exciting adventures in an authentic Pacific Northwest life.
