The National Credit Union Foundation recently awarded Kitsap Credit Union a $25,000 grant to support at-risk youth in the community.
Through established community partnerships, the credit union plans to use the funding toward young people experiencing housing instability, aging out of foster care, or those involved in the juvenile justice system, a release from the credit union noted.
In addition, the financial institution plans to provide financial education to participants. Those who open an account with Kitsap Credit Union will receive a financial incentive to jump-start their financial journey.
“Kitsap Credit Union was founded on the belief that everyone deserves a path to financial security, no matter their circumstances,” Shawn Gilfedder, president and chief executive officer of Kitsap Credit Union, said in a release. “This opportunity reflects the strength of our partnerships with the community and the important work we can accomplish together. We are proud to be part of this work and to help young people build a stronger financial future.”
