The Narrows Challenge returns to Gig Harbor Sept. 18–20, gathering paddlers from across the country to the waters surrounding the Tacoma Narrows for three days of competition.

This year’s event will also host the 2026 USA SUP National Championships, featuring stand-up paddleboard sprint, distance, and technical races. The Narrows Challenge itself is open to a range of human-powered watercraft, including kayaks, surfskis, outrigger canoes, and paddleboards.

The main Narrows Challenge distance races will take place Saturday, with 5-, 10-, and 20-kilometer courses beginning outside the entrance to Gig Harbor and heading south toward the Narrows Bridge.

Saturday will conclude with a free evening concert at Skansie Brothers Park, followed by a drone show. Find more information about the races here.
