In Bremerton, the public is invited aboard the historic USS Turner Joy for a waterfront ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. May 25. The observance will include remarks from military leadership, a performance of “Taps,” and a wreath-laying to honor fallen service members, with participation from the Northwest Navy Band and U.S. Marine Corps personnel.

In Tacoma, the Tacoma Historical Society will host its annual Memorial Day service at War Memorial Park. Scheduled for 11 a.m. May 25, the ceremony will feature a Junior ROTC color guard, live music, and a speech from Col. Jack Mushallo, Washington Army National Guard chief of staff.

In Lakewood, on May 23, community members can take part in a hands-on act of tribute at Mountain View Memorial Park, where volunteers will gather to place flags on veterans’ graves. The event begins at 8 a.m. and includes breakfast for all volunteers.

In Gig Harbor, a Memorial Day weekend dinner on May 23 at the Gig Harbor Yacht Club brings people together over a five-course meal from Nelly’s African Kitchen and Mvinyo Winery, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project

In Woodinville, a wreath-making workshop hosted by Chelan Ridge Winery on May 25 will provide participants the opportunity to create a tribute in honor of those lost.

In Seattle, a series of events organized by the University of Washington’s Student Veteran Life unit includes the Seattle ROTC’s joint service review and following reception on May 20, a 5K run on May 21, and Vets Night Out on May 22, offering opportunities for both reflection and community connection among military-affiliated students, their families, and alumni.

For those who cannot attend events in person, a nationwide run hosted by Moon Joggers invites participants to run a distance of their choosing, on their own time, and at any location. Times are self-reported, and medals and bibs will be shipped to participants, with registration proceeds going towards Operation Gratitude.
