The Maritime Washington National Heritage Area has awarded $100,000 to organizations statewide to help support the region’s maritime heritage.
The organizations receiving grants are:
- Clallam Bay Slip Point Lighthouse Keepers
- Coastal Interpretive Center
- Community Boating Center
- Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society (which operates the Harbor History Museum)
- Glory of the Seas Foundation
- Historic Whidbey
- Marine Exchange of Puget Sound
- Steilacoom Historical Museum Association
- Whatcom Maritime Heritage Museum
- Whiteswan Environmental
According to Maritime Washington, Washington residents and visitors will soon see new exhibits, educational programs, oral history projects, podcasts, documentaries, digital storytelling, public programs, and interpretive signage throughout the heritage areas due to the funding.
Maritime Washington said it will share updates about the grant-funded projects on social media in the coming months.
