Calina Morgan, a recent graduate from Poulsbo’s North Kitsap High School, was recently declared a top-10 finalist in popular duct-tape brand Duck’s 26th annual Stuck at Prom Scholarship Contest.

Morgan, who made a dress out of duct tape, also took home the “Most Runway Worthy” prize, earning her a $2,000 scholarship.

In total, Morgan used 39 rolls of tape and dedicated more than 85 hours of work to her creation.

“Creating this dress has challenged me in many ways,” Morgan said in a release. “It pushed me to think creatively, solve design problems, and step outside my comfort zone. Most importantly, it allowed me to create something completely original using a material I had never worked with before. Through this project, I was able to combine my passion for fashion, creativity, and transformation into a design that truly represents who I am.”

Morgan intends to use her scholarship funds to support her education at the University of Arizona, where she will be studying sustainable business this fall.
