Washington Museum Day, for instance, is scheduled for August. In partnership with the Washington Museum Association, museums across the state will offer free or discounted admission, giving the public a chance to experience history in their own towns and throughout Washington.

Additional key dates include:

  • June 14 — Statewide Day of Service: Communities are encouraged to organize service projects that support local history organizations, such as digitizing historical photographs or taking part in community cleanup events.
  • July 4 — Independence Day: Communities are encouraged to include Washington’s themes for America’s 250th anniversary — We the People, Power of Place, and Sharing History — into their existing activities.
  • Sept. 17 — Statewide Day of Civic Engagement: Communities are encouraged to organize activities that promote civic engagement, such as voter registration drives, naturalization ceremonies, meet-and-greets with civic leaders, or civics-themed events like trivia nights and scavenger hunts.
