Following the Poulsbo Historical Society’s Annual Dinner Auction on March 21 at the Kiana Lodge, the organization celebrated its Heritage Museum’s property mortgage being paid off with a mortgage burning ceremony.
The balance was paid by donors Jay and Sandi Dahlquist who owned and managed Dahlquist Jewelers in downtown Poulsbo from 1981-2004, a release from the society noted.
“It was truly a donation of love for Jay and me to help with PHS (Poulsbo Historical Society),” Sandi Dahlquist said.
In total, the society’s 15th annual auction raised more than $94,000 that will go towards funding the society’s mission of collection, recording, preserving, and exhibiting the history and culture of Poulsbo and its surrounding communities.
The Poulsbo Historical Society owns two properties, the Heritage Museum and the Maritime Museum, both located on Front Street. Additionally, the society also manages the Martinson Cabin in Nelson Park and hosts archives and a research center in Poulsbo City Hall.
Currently, the Heritage Museum is open daily between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and the Heritage Museum is open Mon.-Sat. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
